Susie Lynn Evans

Our beloved wife, mom, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, surrounded by her family after her battle with pancreatic cancer.

Susie was born in San Gabriel, California on February 29, 1964, to Joe Pearson and Carolyn Rice Pearson. She spent her childhood in Arcadia, California with her brother David cherishing many formative years together. When she was 11 years old, she made friends with neighborhood girls who were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They invited her to Young Women’s activities. At camp, she had powerful experiences during the faith walk and testimony meeting. Around age 13, Susie was baptized and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her junior year of high school in 1981 her family moved to Sandy, Utah, a transition that shaped the next chapter of her life.

She graduated from Alta High School in 1982. During high school she met Matt Evans, the love of her life. She first noticed him because of his red 1972 Ford Mach One saying she fell for the car first, then the young man driving it. Susie and Matt married on February 8, 1984, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. They had three children: Mckinzy (1986), Sterling (1990), and Shannon (1995). Susie said of her family, “He (Matt) is everything to me. We were married in the temple and have three amazing kids, who are raising many amazing grandchildren. I am so proud of our kids and grandkids. I have love for them beyond measure. I have a testimony of eternal families.” Susie was the best wife, mother, and grandmother you could ask for.

Susie’s life always revolved around quiet service. Never seeking recognition, she watched for others’ needs, then quietly went to work. She would always show up with a Costco-sized box filled to the brim with helpful items. She knew how to show up for people, and you could always count on her. Susie always gave 110% in service to others. She was a shining example of ministering to others.

Beyond her family, Susie also loved her animals, especially her horses and cats. She had a 501C3 animal rescue called Purrfect Place Animal Sanctuary, where she poured her heart and soul into caring for her animals. To her, they were extra children and she loved them very much.

Susie’s dedication extended into her professional life. She worked for Marriott International as a Manager in Human Resources and Administration to the V.P. for 27 years. During this time her career allowed her to travel with her family. Favorite vacation spots included Disneyland, Lake Powell, and their cabin in Hatch, Utah. After retiring from Marriott, she became the Human Resource Director at Blomquist Hale Solutions where she was passionate about her work and enjoyed the company of her colleagues.

Susie’s faith was also a guiding force in her life. Faith was a daily choice that sustained her during hard times; she also knew such faith required effort. From a recent testimony, Susie stated, “If you can find one thing that happens each day that’s good, I look at that and say, that’s the Savior. If a cloud looks pretty, or I see a neat bird, or something good happens, that’s from the Savior or the Spirit. My Savior is tough. He’s strong. He gives us tough things to conquer. I believe that he’s trying to prepare us for the Second Coming and the next things that are happening”. She was an astounding example of having faith in every circumstance.

Her deep faith would sustain her through life’s greatest challenges. On November 25, 2024, Susie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. From her diagnosis until her passing on October 16, 2025, she fought valiantly with courage, hope, and faith. Throughout her illness she could feel the prayers offered on her behalf and was immensely grateful to all who served her and helped her remain positive.

Susie is survived by her husband Matt Evans, (Son) Sterling Grant Evans & Amanda Marse Evans, (Daughter) Shannon Evans-Nielsen & Joe Nielsen, (Mother) Carolyn Pearson, (Brother) David Pearson & Cherlynn Pearson, (Brother-in-law) Mark Evans & Meloney Evans, (Granddaughters) Aubrie Bath, Brynnley Bath, Addalyn Evans, Harper Evans, Paige Evans, Karli Jo Nielsen, Ella Nielsen, nieces, nephews. She is preceded in death by (Father) Joe Pearson, (Father-in-law) Nyle Evans, (Mother-in-law) Joan Evans, (Daughter) Mckinzy Evans Bath.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the care team at Huntsman Hospital, Huntsman at Home, and CNS Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate support.

We are deeply grateful to friends, family, co-workers, church members, and our fire department family, whose unwavering support and encouragement brought Susie and her family overwhelming love and blessings throughout her journey.
