Sydnie Edward Nolen Jr. (Ed)

Passed away March 24, 2023 in Nephi Utah.

Born in Mississippi on November 28, 1943 to Sydney Edward and Virginia Nolen.

Ed’s childhood years in Mississippi revolved around his granny, who helped raise him, and whose love was always never ending. He married Becky Lee LaFay Nolen, on September 17, 1977. They then moved to Francis, Utah in the early 80s.

He worked for Harrington & Company in Salt Lake City for several years before driving truck for Kent Bethers up until a blood clot resulted in a leg amputation in 2008.

Ed’s favorite past time was fishing. He looked forward to the phone calls from his fishing buddies who would take him out on whatever lake they could get a spot. He enjoyed the stories him and his fishing buddies would share and there was always a tall tale added to color the story.

After losing Becky to cancer in 2020, his struggles with life became more apparent, and he moved to Nephi in August 2022, where he resided upon his death. Ed and Becky had 8 grand-babies and they both had a very close connection to their youngest Madison, Ed’s punkin-punkin with who he had a very special bond.

Ed and Becky also had 9 great grand-babies. They always had a picture or story to tell about them when anyone stopped in to say hello.

He is survived by Jennie Farrar, Nephi, Utah, Heather (John) Mayoh (Heber, Utah).

We would also like to thank Intermountain Home Care and Hospice and his Very Special friends Tim Crittened of Francis. You always helped take care of anything they needed, Ron Mair of Heber, his Best Fishin’ Buddy, and Mike Helton of Centerfield, Utah. All of you have always had a place in his heart.

Try to remember all the good times because they can really outweigh the bad.
