Tyler Probert (Joseph) Filby passed unexpectedly on September 26, 2025 at 52 years of age. He was born on June 7, 1973 in Sandy, Utah, to Joseph (Joe) Wilson and Susan Probert Wilson. Tyler graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1991. He married Tennille Christensen and had two beautiful daughters, Kelsey and Kailey. At 23 years old, Tyler was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and be battled with it for 6 months before he beat it for the rest of his life. He later met Rhonda Malmgren, and the two of them instantly fell in love. They traveled to Cancun and got married in 1999. Tyler became a step-father to Rhonda’s son Vance, and Tyler and Rhonda had another beautiful daughter together named Taryn. All of their children were a tremendous source of joy to Tyler, and he was so proud of their many accomplishments.
Tyler and Rhonda spent a lot of time in Moab with 8 fabulous Jeeps that Tyler had built. They traveled all the trails they could find and boated on Lake Powell and in Strawberry Reservoir, blasting music all the while. Music was a passion for Tyler. By the time he was 24, he had co-owned two stereo shops. He later went to work for US West and quickly moved up the corporate ladder, becoming a senior account executive by the time the company was bought by Qwest Communications. He won several awards, including two President’s club awards. The prizes for these awards enabled Tyler and Rhonda to travel to Hawaii, Montreal, and Quebec, and included dinner at the Canadian Parliament building.
Despite his success in the corporate world, Tyler was an entrepreneur at heart, and he wanted more than the corporate life. So he followed his passion for music and began to moonlight as a club DJ in Salt Lake City. He did this for three years, during which time he became Utah’s first VJ (video jockey) and first digital music DJ, using his computer rather than albums. He worked at 10 different clubs and participated as a DJ at an MMA event with Corey Draper from KBER 101.1 FM in Salt Lake City.
As an extension of his live DJ work, he started a shop on eBay selling basic DJ mixes to test the waters of the fitness world. With initial success there, he and Rhonda decided in the early 2000s to start a company they named 32mix—a company that would be his pride and joy. Tyler became one of the most sought-after DJs for fitness music. He had a keen ear and an instinct for knowing the types of songs that would inspire people to dance. He used these talents and his creativity to build a successful fitness music business as well as a reputation for superior music production, sound quality, and customer service. And he was prolific! Over the years, he developed thousands of fitness mixes across many different music genres, for a large variety of fitness classes, and including custom fitness mixes as commissioned by individual instructors. He had thousands of clients from across the world, all of which became friends and some of which became like family. Tyler took his love of sharing music with friends—since his teenage years driving his Jeeps in Moab and DJing in clubs—and, with Rhonda’s love and support, turned it into a successful enterprise known across the fitness industry. He finished his final mix just days before his passing. Tyler was an avid photographer of the moon and all the thing's in the sky and on land.
Tyler is survived by his wife Rhonda, daughters Kelsey (Kelsey) Lloyd, Kailey (Duke) Babka, and Taryn Filby, and step-son Vance (Alexis) Robison; and grandchildren Brookley Woods; Marley, Naia, and River Babka; and Iylah and Ailey Robison; his mother Susan Filby and step-father Lloyd Filby; his step-mother Sandra Wilson; and many nieces and nephews. Tyler is preceded in death by his father Joe Wilson and his baby brother Troy Filby.
