Vance K. Hilton

“Do I have a story for you…”

Vance K Hilton, born on May 31, 1951, unexpectedly passed away in his home on March 19, 2024. He was predeceased by his parents, Doris E Pierce and Keith L Hilton and father-in-law Lynn Anderson (whom he thought of as a father). Vance is survived by his wife of 35 years, Robyn Buckingham. Vance is also survived by his brother, Steven Hilton, and his wife Marlene, his sister, Lori (Hilton) Jepson, and her husband Jack. He is further survived by his children: Sandra (Hilton) Wade, and her significant other Jimmy; Tonya (Hilton) Holmstead, and her significant other Alonzo; Cody Buckingham, and his wife Tara; Cheylynn (Buckingham) Holland, and her husband Tyler; and his honorary son Bret (Hilton), and his wife Tamra. Vance also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vance worked for many years at Kennecott, Sandy City Parks and Recreation, and finally retired from Granite School District in 2007. In his free time, Vance enjoyed football, camping, fishing, hunting, and the thrill of gambling, although his wife Robyn was his lucky charm and always seemed to have the winning hand.

Grandpa Vance “No Pants” (for those who know the story) had a zest for life and loved to share his stories. He was known for his large personality, sense of humor, and infectious laughter. He was a jokester, who had a natural ability to entertain others with his story telling and animated nature. He had a special bond with his mother, whom he loved and missed dearly. Hopefully, she will be the first to welcome him home.

Vance was a stubborn man who never backed down from a challenge, even in the face of medical professionals and emergency teams. Perhaps his determination and stubbornness were inherited traits. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the emergency team who responded on the morning of Vance's passing. They also extend their appreciation to their loving family and friends for all of their well wishes and support during this difficult time.

Vance's passing leaves a void that will be hard to fill, but his memory and his laugh will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.

We will be holding a “Celebration of Life” Service for Vance on Saturday, April 6th, from 2:30pm to 5:30pm at Bellaluma Studio – 2254 W. Statehood Dr in Bluffdale (84065). It is located in a residential neighborhood and dress will be casual.

In lieu of flowers: take your family fishing, try your luck in Wendover or steal a tree from a neighbor and plant it in your yard. He’d get a kick out of that.
