Verlaine, 89, passed away on Sept. 12, 2025 in Murray, Utah.
She was born on August 10, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ross & Myrtle Bateman.
Growing up in West Jordan, she enjoyed her large family and living an adventurous youth graduating a Proud Jordan Beet digger in 1954.
Verlaine married Ronald L. Fowlks on Sept 10, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The good times always outweighed the bad with adventures with dear friends and her eternal love Ronald by her side. Camping, exploring backroads and journeying many miles via cars, motorhomes, ships, and planes. Together they raised 5 boys and 1 daughter, always had an open-door accepting others into their home. Active in the church and the lives of her children she had many roles as a relief society president, primary president, Oak Crest camp leader, visiting teacher and PTA President to name a few.
Survived by children: Ronald K. (Pauline) Fowlks, Michal (Suzette) Fowlks Raymond – Deceased (Cheri) Fowlks, E. Ross (Shelli) Fowlks, Cherie (Don) Lunceford and Roger (Mistie) Fowlks, 24 Grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren, Brother Alan Bateman, Sister-in-Law Deloris Rich, Brother-in-Laws, David Fowlks, Jeff Fowlks, & Steve Carpenter.
Preceded in death by her Husband Ronald L Fowlks (2013), Son Raymond S Fowlks (2001), Grandson Phoenix Fowlks (2017) Foster Son Norris Kaydazine (2021).
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, viewing from 9:30-10:45 at Heritage Ward Chapel located at 67 W. Claypark Dr., Murray, UT. Services will be held at 11:00 AM at the same location. The Interment will be at West Jordan Cemetery, 7925 S. Temple Dr. (1300 West), West Jordan, UT after services.
