Von DeLee Rosquist

Von DeLee Rosquist, 82, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Levan, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 20, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, to Peter “Deon” Rosquist and Geraldine Rosquist, Von was the second of eight children. He grew up alongside his siblings Buddy, Gerald, Sandra, Dale, Fred, Ladaun, and Cary. He attended school in Rupert, Idaho, completing the 8th grade there before finishing high school in Nephi, Utah, graduating in 1961. His classmates affectionately nicknamed him “Burnt Black,” thanks to his habit of slipping out of class to bring back Persian doughnuts from the bakery.

After graduation, Von answered the call of his country and was drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he settled again in Levan, Utah.

In 1970, while working in Tooele, Von met the love of his life, Mary, and the two were married on December 28, 1971. With that marriage, Von not only gained a devoted partner but also two beloved children, Terry and Taunya. Together, Von and Mary welcomed two more sons, Travis and Deon, completing the family he cherished above all else.

Von’s passions were many, but his greatest joy came from his family, inventing, gardening, and tending to his orchard. He loved sharing the fruits of his labor—especially his prized garlic and shallots—with friends, neighbors, and anyone who stopped by. He was a proud member of the American Legion and honored to participate in the three-volley rifle salute for deceased veterans and at Memorial Day services.

From 1992 to 1994, Von served as the mayor of Levan, where he played a key role in bringing natural gas to the community. He later retired from Barney Trucking in 2011, spending his well-earned retirement in his shop, with his grandchildren, and in the garden he loved so deeply.

Von was preceded in death by his son Terry, his parents Peter and Geraldine, his sister Sandra, and his brothers Gerald and Dale.

He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Taunya (Travis); sons Travis (Kelly) and Deon; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

Von will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, his service, and the deep love he held for his family and community.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026 at the Levan Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
