Walter Reynolds

Walt was born in Standardville Utah to Sterling Reynolds and Audrey (Johnson) Reynolds, the third of six children. Dad grew up in Emery, Utah, living the life of a country boy on the small family farm.

Farming was a part of him, and each year his garden was filled with beautiful flowers and fruits and vegetables that he would share with family and friends.

For many years in the fall the Reynolds boys Jim, Walt and Ed along with others would gather at the house and prepare for the pheasant hunt in Emery where they had all grown up. They’d walk through the same fields and orchards they had as children, or for the deer hunt in the mountains of the same area. These get-togethers were always a high point, and far too infrequent.

As a young man dad dabbled in automotive racing and had a few trophies around the house for his accomplishments. Even in his 40’s dad could be found at the dragstrip burning some rubber.

Dad had a gift for art, music and mechanics. He could often be seen painting, drawing, playing the guitar, or building an engine from scratch, but his favorite hobby was fishing, or drowning worms as mom would say. He was such a fishing fanatic that he got snowed in on Flaming Gorge reservoir, causing a bit of a panic for his young wife. Dad also did some deep-sea fishing in the pacific, and fishing for Halibut in Alaska, but usually you’d find him at Strawberry on the water while mom was in the RV on-shore waiting for him.

At the age of 18 Walt started visiting his cousin in the big city and met Linda Probert, it was love at first sight and they would soon spend the rest of their lives together.

The “kids”, dad was 19 and mom was 16, were married on June 6th, 1958, in Salt Lake City. They were lucky enough to have spent most of their lives together and just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

Walt spent his working career in the automotive and marine industries working as the parts manager in both industries. Dad took pride in his work and was loved by everyone that spent time with him.

Walt spent many years as a boy scout leader, taking boys from troop 711 on many outings and summer camps, assisting these young men advance in scouting and grow as men.

Dad was a quiet man and only seemed to speak when he felt he needed to, but he was always listening and always there for his wife, kids, family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Sterling and Audrey, and siblings, Jim, Jerry, Tina, Ed, and Cherry.

Survived by his loving wife Linda and their children, Todd (Tami) Reynolds, Wendie Reynolds, Tarrah (Dominic) Dofelmier; Grandchildren, Duncan (Ciarra) Reynolds, Jordan Reynolds, Justin Barney, Elliott (Ryan) Kee, Maxwell Dofelmier, Audrey Dofelmier; Great Grandchildren, Margot Reynolds and Arizona Kee; Former daughter in-law, Alison Reynolds.

We’re grateful for all that you’ve done for us over the years. Thanks for everything Dad – We love you.
