Warren Jackson MacNeil

Warren Jackson MacNeil, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by loving family members.

Warren was born June 3, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Norman Flem and Lora Jackson MacNeil. He was a long-time resident of South Jordan, Utah. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1967. He served an LDS mission to Arizona in 1968. After returning home, he attended school at Utah State University. The majority of his career was spent at Rocky Mountain Power as a Heavy Diesel Equipment Mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed archery, woodworking, hunting, fishing and cycling.

Warren was married to Mary Ellen Jackman for 18 years; they later parted ways. During their marriage, they were blessed with two wonderful sons, Brian and Cory.

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35. Over the last decade, Warren gave thousands of hours of his time as a volunteer in the Adopt-A-Native-Elder program at events and Food Runs. Warren knitted over 3,000 winter hats that he gave to all the elders on the Food Runs he attended and that were packed into Holiday Stockings that A.N.E. distributes to reservation schools. Warren also used his extensive tool collection and talents as a woodworker to make hardwood weaving combs that he gave to every weaver supported through Adopt-A-Native-Elder. Warren even gave his backyard to the Elders where for many summers he grew more than 2,500 pounds of squash that he picked and brought to the reservation to be added to every Elder’s Food Box. Warren not only gave his time immense talents to the Elders he cherished, he also gave his knowledge and expertise to help improve program operations, from redesigning and improving fabric cutting process to ordering and installing heavy load springs in the program vans and recommending regular vehicle maintenance procedures. Warren’s influence will continue to make the program and the lives of the employees and volunteers better on a daily basis.

He is preceded in death by his father, Norman Flem MacNeil, mother, Lora Jackson MacNeil. Warren is survived by his son, Brian Gus MacNeil (Chris), son, Cory Wes MacNeil (Patricia), four grandchildren, Aidan, Easton, Jeffrey and Agnes, and sister Terre MacNeil Marshall.
