William Lee “Bill” Harvey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 30, 2026, at the age of 96.
Bill was born on July 28, 1930, in Price, Utah, to William W. and Betty Lee Harvey. He grew up in Carbon County and graduated from Carbon College before earning his degree from the University of Utah.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War, spending one of his two years of military service in Korea.
On September 17, 1955, Bill married the love of his life, LaRue Thomas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. For 71 years, they shared a life centered on faith, family, love, and devotion to one another.
As a young man, Bill worked as a coal miner in Carbon County alongside his father and brother. He later began a career with Hercules Aerospace, where he worked for 30 years before retiring.
Bill was a kind and humble man who lived with integrity. He never spoke ill of others and treated everyone with dignity and respect. He loved spending time with family and friends, and the example he set through his life will remain one of the greatest gifts he leaves behind.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, LaRue Harvey; his daughter, Diane Fehr; his son, Gregory J. Harvey (Renee); his daughter, Jolene Nelson; and his daughter-in-law, Joni Harvey. He is also survived by his nieces, Cindy Carrasco and Sandy Hagwood; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Mitchell Thomas Harvey and William Jon Harvey; his parents, William W. and Betty L. Harvey; and his brother, Jack D. Harvey (Nancy).
The family extends a special thank you to the VA Care Team, Kristy Van Katwyk, Dr. McGarry, Dara Gibbings, Jessica Karen, and his caregiver, Dana Hobb, for their kindness, compassionate care, and support. Bill was deeply grateful to all those who helped him throughout his journey.
Bill will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by the family he cherished and by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and forever dear."
