On July 1, 2026, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, William Arthur Peeler, left this mortal life as he graduated from his earthly testing and was “promoted from Dev to Prod.” His quick wit, curious mind, and deep love for family will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
William was born on November 16, 1952, in Blackfoot, Idaho, to Arthur and Beulah Peeler. He later met the love of his life, Evelyn Miller, and they were married on July 12, 1973, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and lifelong learning.
From the moment William first encountered the large and clunky computers of the early tech world, he developed a lifelong passion for the world of IT. He dedicated many years to working in a variety of information technology roles, where he genuinely loved solving problems, coding and creating programs in languages most of us could never begin to understand. His brilliant mind and problem-solving abilities were admired by many.
William also found tremendous joy in serving through the Scouting program, where he mentored youth and shared his love for the outdoors and adventure. William was often found studying, researching, and planning for his next great pursuit. One lifelong dream included planning for what would be “the hunt of a lifetime” — proving once and for all that Sasquatch exists. While he never officially found Bigfoot in this life, he certainly spent enough time studying the possibility that we suspect that this would be the first question he asked as he stepped foot into heaven. Other hobbies included learning new things by diving deeply into any subject that sparked his interest as well as preparing for the “end of the world.”
William is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn Peeler; his children, James (Jeanna) Peeler, Rachel (Curtis) Strobelt, Jennifer (Ryan) Leavitt, and Laura (Jon Poulson) Larsen; his 13 beloved grandchildren; and his sisters, Tanna (John) Hatfield, Sue Ann Aleo, and Alice (Mark) Kemball.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beulah Peeler, and his son-in-law, Brandon Larsen.
Funeral services will be held at the Levan church house, located at 25 N 100 E. A viewing will take place on Thursday, July 9 from 9:30–10:45 a.m., followed by funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In honor of William, feel free to double-check your emergency food storage, question suspicious footprints in the woods, and remember to turn it off and turn it back on again.
The funeral services will be streamed live at:
