WylaGene Myers Seal

WylaGene Myers Seal was born on November 7, 1952 to Van J and Lora Wallace Myers in Panguitch, Utah. She loved growing up in a small town. She especially loved spending time with her cousins, and with her grandparents Jim and Grace Myers, on the family ranch. She enjoyed hanging out at the family-owned service station, where she had a pet cougar to attract the tourists.

Around the age of 10 her family moved up to Midvale, Utah where Wyla was able to make great friends that supported her during her youth. She always got straight A’s in school and enjoyed extracurricular activities including cheerleading, gymnastics, drama club, and yearbook staff.

Wyla went on to study at BYU, and earned her degree in education. While there she was a member of the BYU Gymnastics Team, and helped the team earn the title of Conference Champions in 1973.

While at BYU, Wyla married Thomas Frank Seal, her high school and college sweetheart, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They quickly welcomed their daughter Kimberly, and soon after, their son Richard Thomas.

Wyla went on to get her teaching certificate, and taught elementary school in the Granite School District for 25 years. She taught 1st, 2nd, and 5th Grade. While teaching, she returned to school at the University of Utah and received her Master’s of Education. Wyla loved teaching children, especially about the Constitution, and every year she hosted a Jeopardy bowl filled with Constitution trivia. She also enjoyed directing school plays. The Elephant Child was her favorite.

Wyla was an amazing artist who enjoyed watercolor, oil painting and toll painting. Throughout her entire life, Wyla continued to improve her skill and enjoyed giving away many of her paintings to friends and family.

Wyla lived a life of service. She was always thinking of things she could do to help others. She had a great sense of humor, and had a “never quit, never give up” attitude.

Her greatest passion of all was her family. She was an amazing mother to her two children. She did everything she could to help them be successful and pursue their dreams. She had nine grandchildren, who kept her busy. She tutored them in school, taught them to cook and paint, and watched movies with them. Above all else, she enjoyed the time they spent together. Wyla never missed a game, a performance, or a special event for a family member.

Wyla was always a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel and strived to live in a way that reflected her beliefs.

Wyla is preceded in death by her parents Van J and Lora Wallace Myers, her brother Kevin Myers, and her sister Jillyn Myers. She is survived by her brother Rex Myers (Julie), her brother-in-law Don Flynn, her two children Kimberly Seal and Richard Seal (Julie), her nine grandchildren: Lakely, Kimball (Spencer), Grace (Jakob), Max, Gavin, Cameron, Ainsley, Ayda, and Van and one great-granddaughter Gemma.

We will love and miss you forever Willy!
