Barbara Roemmich, 83, passed away peacefully January 29th, 2020 at her childhood home surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born January 18th, 1937 in Coalville, Utah. She graduated from North Summit High School. She attended Utah State University where she was an Aggiette and participated in many of the dance performances.
The summer of 1957 she went to Santa Monica, California to work. While there she met Edwin Roemmich. They were married January 11, 1958 in Coalville, Utah. Their first home was in southern California. They were the parents of two sons. She graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. She taught school at Emerson Jr High and Grant High school in the Los Angeles area.
In 1973 the family moved to Hoytsville, Utah.
Barbara taught PE at North Summit where she was Drill team advisor and coached track, volleyball and many other sports.
Later she attended Weber State College where she received a business degree. She taught business from 1982 until she retired in 1997.
After Ed’s passing, she became very active in dancing, bowling and traveling with her beloved companion Donovan Johnston. They spent many happy hours enjoying life together.
Barbara is survived by her sons Todd (Tonia) Roemmich, Little Elm, TX and Blake (Tracy) Roemmich, Sandy, UT; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters Beverly (Lee) Rasmussen, Holladay, UT, Cathy (Edward) Friery, Coalville, UT, and her beloved companion Donovan Johnston, Alpine, UT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband Edwin Roemmich, parents Vern and Beulah Willoughby, and brothers John and Kay Willoughby.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, Feb 5th, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Hoytsville LDS Church and again on Thursday, Feb 6th, 2020 from 10-10:45 am with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am. Interment, Hoytsville Cemetery.
