On July 8, 2021 heaven welcomed home our classy, angel mother and loving devoted wife Dona Dean Simons McPherson, 83, born November 9, 1937 at Payson, UT.
Survived by Thomas Lincoln McPherson (spouse) of Nephi, UT, Thomas Drew McPherson (Missy) of Nephi, UT, Shelia Don Shaw (Curt) of Genola, UT, Karla Lynn (Wes) of Mona, UT, Shawna Lee Beach (Brent) of Salina, UT, 13 cherished grandchildren, and 42 of the greatest great-grandchildren. She was a fun-filled, favored aunt by many nieces and nephews.
Dona was preceded in death by her parents, Wainer Dixon Simons and Hazel Pearl Dean; a son, Wayne LeRoy McPherson; all four of her sisters Fern, Ellen, LeOra, Joan, and one brother Elliot (Bud).
Married Thomas Lincoln McPherson, her sweetheart, October 5, 1956 and solemnized in the Manti, Utah Temple on May 20, 1964.
Dona loved with a love that was more than love. She loved everyone, and would always light up the room with her beautiful smile. She welcomed everyone she met wherever she went. She taught how to love, serve, have compassion for others and most of all to smile even when times are hard.
Her cherished favorites were her family, all animals, gardening, the outdoors, sports, all four seasons, celebrating birthdays and Christmas.
A Christlike, selfless member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, remembered best as a pianist for Primary, Relief Society and ward choirs. Ministering everywhere she went.
Cum Laude Wildcat Graduate of Weber State in 1989 with her B.S. Degree in radiology and a minor in administration. She was the first woman elected to the Juab School District Board of Education, serving two terms.
Strong-willed, determined, perseverance and forgiving. Never gave up on anyone and worked until she conquered. Playful, supportive and a tease.
Not afraid of hard work being born in the great depression. Lived in Mills on the family farm. Included an outhouse and no running water. Mom’s motto was, “If a job is worth doing, then do it right, giving your all - 110%.”
Her occupations in life were all in the medical field. Lab and x-ray assistant, a dental assistant, a medical assistant for Dr. Thomas Hall. Retired from Mountain View Hospital Radiology Department working as a radiology technician, ultra-sound technician and very instrumental in establishing the first mammography department there.
Dona was so talented and many were recipients of her hand made gifts, from knitting, sewing and hand pieced quilts to her delicious home-made candy and believed that dessert should come first.
The family wish to express their deepest appreciation to iCare Home Health and Hospice, the dedicated, caring staff who helped Dona to complete her life desire to be at their home located at 40 West 300 North, Nephi, UT.
