Obituary

Norman Heber Carlsen, age 85, of Midvale, Utah passed away July 4, 2021 in his home with his daughter Sherry watching and caring for him.

Norman was the son of Norman Reginald and Margorie Adele Carlsen arriving at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah on March 16, 1936. Norman was the first of five children and he was loved by his family very much.

When Norman was 18 years old, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served for 4 years and received an honorable Discharge. He loved his country and was very proud to serve in the Army. Soon after his discharge he looked to work as a crane operator for commercial construction. Soon after he started this work he became excellent at operating the cranes and soon became sought after by many companies. He loved the bosses at Christianson Brothers and got hired there permanently. He worked 30+ years for them and for Operating Engineers Union which he was very proud of. Norman loved his work and enjoyed every single year he worked.

Norman loved the game of golf and spent many of his retired years playing almost every day until his body could no longer play. He had friends that played with him that he missed dearly when he could no longer play his most loved game. Norman had many friends that loved and missed playing golf with him.

Norman was a wonderful father who raised 6 children and never complained about all their needs. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirlee Carlsen, sons Gregory Carlsen, Frank White, and grandsons Jamison Dade and Braden Hutchings, brother Deloy Carlsen, and sister JoAnn Fields. Norman is survived by a brother Elliot Carlsen, and a sister Marjean Bair, children Randal Carlsen, Becky (Jeff) Hutchings, Brenda (Kent) Christensen and Sherry Carlsen. Norman has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss him dearly.

We would like to thank all those from IHC Hospice care. They went above and beyond their duty serving Norman. We the family want to thank our dear sister Sherry for all the love and devotion she performed during all the years she took care of our Father. She sacrificed her life to care for him even when it got real hard towards the end of Dad’s life. Sherry is the angel who cared for our Dad! We will miss Dad and we look for the day we will see him again in Heaven.
