Susan Ann Keller (nee MacVittie) passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 13, after a brief illness. She was born October 12, 1943, in Buffalo, NY, the elder child of John A. and Lillian E. MacVittie. She grew up in suburban Williamsville, graduating from what was then Williamsville Central High School in 1961. She then studied laboratory medical technology at Erie Community College and worked for many years at Cottonwood Hospital. Susan and Roger Vernon Keller were married October 24, 1964, in Williamsville and later lived in Hamburg, NY.
A lover of the outdoors, Susan moved to Midvale, UT from Western New York in 1976 along with her husband and daughter, Kathy, to take advantage of the skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking the area had to offer. Her love of exploring and adventure eventually led her to travel around the world to places like China, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Mediterranean Sea, as well as to many national parks and areas around the US.
Susan was an avid volunteer and participated in several events and activities during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, including the closing ceremonies. Most recently, she has been active in volunteer work at her local senior center.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Kathy Lynn Wilson. She is survived by her grandson, Skylar Allen (Paige) Wilson of Clinton, MO, her brother, John H. MacVittie (Gail Hicks) of Henderson, NY, a niece, Meredith MacVittie (Oliver Will) of Ambler, PA, and a nephew, Matthew MacVittie (Katharine St. Laurent) of Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a children's-based charity of your choice.
